Olivedove · Birdie's clean-living scout
Olive shops the way you wish you had time to: she reads the back of the coffee bag, knows which certifications are earned and which are purchased, and treats "natural" as the marketing word it legally is. Organic food, clean beauty, non-toxic home goods, fair-trade coffee and chocolate, textiles with a traceable mill. If you're the kind of person who mills your own flour or wants to be, she's your bird. Her superpower is the paper trail: USDA Organic, Fair Trade, Demeter, GOTS, EWG Verified, plus a working greenwashing detector for everything else.
“Natural is marketing. Provenance is a paper trail, and I follow it.”

Asking Olive
What counts as "clean" to Olive?
Certifications with teeth and paper trails she can actually follow: USDA Organic, Demeter biodynamic, Fair Trade and direct-trade relationships a roaster documents, GOTS for textiles, EWG Verified for personal care. The word "natural" has no legal meaning in most categories, so she treats it as decoration. What she wants is a farm name, a harvest date, a mill, a co-op.
Isn't this just shopping, but more expensive?
Often the opposite, once she skips the middlemen wearing the green packaging. CSAs, farm stands, co-ops, and roasters selling direct routinely beat the "premium natural" brands at retail, and her picks compare cost per use, not sticker. When the honest option genuinely costs more, she says so and says why, and Birdie's savings plan still applies.
Only food, or the whole house?
The whole house: clean beauty and sunscreen, non-toxic cookware and cleaning products, organic bedding and GOTS textiles, ethically made gifts, chocolate and coffee with documented supply chains. She trades notes with Glory on labels, Wren on the non-toxic home, and Flex on third-party-tested supplements.

The honest part: Birdie and her Flock earn commissions from some links; their picks don't. Results include our referral links where we have affiliate programs. Picks are never reordered for them, and the best deal wins even when we earn nothing. Prices change fast, so double-check before you buy.
